About
I started the Fitness Unguru for several reasons.
- It is a nice adjunct to Muscle-Build.com, my main fitness site, which is set up primarily to disseminate muscle-building information to users all over the world
- It serves as my entry into the local market I serve, the Tri-Valley area in the East Bay (California) that consists of Livermore, Pleasanton, Dublin, San Ramon, and Sunol
- I wanted to dispel the common myths that circulate and the Internet is the best way to do so
I've been "into" health and fitness since I can remember. One of my first books ever was the Nutrition Almanac. I actually knew the macronutrient content of a lot of food like milk, hamburger, cottage cheese, and tuna! Is that crazy or what? In fact, back then I memorized a lot of facts, including baseball statistics. I even had a batting average table memorized (this was before calculators were really prevalent).
But I digress.
Too many people are getting really crummy advice. Some of the advice is just wrong. But some of it is downright dangerous. I cannot tell you how often I am appalled at what I see in the gym! "Personal trainers" who are having their clients do what the trainer wants rather than what the client needs.
Seeing a guy who has not mastered the bench press trying to do dumbbell presses on a stability ball is humorous and sick at the same time.
You'll hear that sort of thing time and time again here: Focus on the basics. Perfect your form. Everything else will follow. You don't need fancy exercises or machines to get in the best shape of your life. You really don't.
That's it for now. Just know that I'm here to help. If you ever have any questions, please use this page to contact me.
